Alter Ego

Lynx are one of my favorite creatures. Their intense gaze and solitary nature appeal to me. I have only seen 5 lynx in the wild in my entire life, and every one of them was alone, like I, often, am. Yet, they are not vulnerable, but self-sufficient.

Last winter, one crossed the road in front of me. I stopped and jockeyed my car around to see it in my headlights. It stood watching me, so I rolled down my window to talk to it. It sat down and listened. I left first, feeling completely judged. I felt like one solitary creature connected with another.

If I were an animal, I would be a lynx. Hence, the name "Alter Ego"...

in my head, I call this "Mittens, Destroyer of Worlds".

I had, originally, declared this painting finished, but it hung around the house long enough that I decided it wasn't done. Here are the two paintings next to each other for comparison.
